Life & Travels Afloat in our Moody
When our Australian teacher friend, Wendy, asked if she could come and visit us in South Africa, the brief was broad – she wanted “to see as much as possible”. What a quandary! – How to show the best of this beautiful country, albeit with its challenges, in 13 days.
The best we could think was a girls’ road trip to Cape Town (Steve was due to be in Nigeria and Ghana for a week). Poor Wendy, having flown overnight from Melbourne was decanted into the car before lunch, and off we went on Stage 1 a six hour drive to Colesburg. We even got there in time to walk around the historic town before supper.
Up early, and after a 7 hour drive, the two day safari at Kuzuko Lodge in Addo Elephant National Park was awesome. The pictures say it all – apart from the black rhino charging us four times! Our guide was exceptional commanding the animal that he had enough space of his own so should leave us along, but after his voice was ignored, he eventually sending him packing by jangling his keys! (Note to self – in the bush always have a large set of keys available!)
