Life & Travels Afloat in our Moody
The winds abated enough to make the run after the days delay. However there was still a substantial swell, as can be seen from the photo of the disappearing boat. A few boats attempted to hoist large sails, but only Leviathan managed to keep a spinnaker up. What is not shown is the boat almost being blown horizontal before they got it under control!
Anyway, we had a more modest run into Peniche. Rafting up on the main pontoon was ‘interesting’, (even more so getting off with the wind blowing hard against us!). It is very much a fishing port with few amenities for yachtsmen. Given the delay in arrival we only had time for a short visit to the castle, (ok, admittedly for drinks..) and a meal before an early night.
