Since leaving Freebooter ashore at the end of June, life became very hectic. After less than a day at home, it was off to South Africa for another fortnights work. Then back to prepare for our daughter’s wedding before flying back to Johannesburg the day after.
Time flies on the project here, but last weekend I headed off with Daniel, a great colleague on the same project, down to the south coast and the back through the mountains. It was unplanned, and a last minute response to finding out that it was a long weekend, Friday being Ladies Day!
On the drive down, we passed zebra, antelope and baboons, but at breakfast on Saturday, the huge surprise was the sight of whales just off the shore!!!
The drive back was absolutely stunning, and the scale of the landscape awesome. It just leaves you wanting to spend more time in this wonderful country.
Only a couple more nights here this trip, and then home for 3 days before heading back to the boat. Around this time next week, hopefully we will be afloat again preparing to set off for Morocco!
All the best for the future Anne marie, look forward to reading all about your adventures! Charli (Training Dept) x
