Having settled at anchor in Bequia, and enjoying the looooong chill that is infectious there, the intended slow meander down the Grenadine islands evaporated with a single phone call. With a close member of the family not at all well back home, it became a rapid search for flights followed 3 hours later by an overnight sail back to St Lucia. After frantically taking down the sails, stowing the dinghy, and shutting the boat up in the marina for a few weeks, it was off to the airport.
Although family is the key priority, it was a real wrench to have to leave, quite aside from the 16 degree C temperature differential and cold rain back home. We have really fallen for the way of life and the people.
Oh dear……..
I do hope everything is alright the member of family give them my love xx
