Escape from St Lucia was achieved at 05.45 yesterday, at last. I am not saying we had spent too long there since arrival in December, but the courtesy flag was worn down to almost half it’s original size! Anyway, we set sail for Bequia or Carriacou, Islands some 60/120nm away respectively. However we we having such a cracking sail in calm seas that we just kept going to Grenada. 157nm in 20 hours!
In truth, we were completely exhausted after the work of the last few days, so we just dropped the hook in a small bay there for a few hours sleep. Then motored round the corner to the bay outside St George’s, only to see the very welcome sight of Ocean Rainbow. Claire and James soon joined us for coffee, even bringing over a cake! (If you are wondering about the green tomato by the flag, we gave it to Claire with all our food when we had to rush back to the UK six weeks ago. Claire wasn’t sure what it was as it never ripened. The first thing she did was give it back!). Then it was time for a quick swim and (essential on public health grounds) shower before heading in to deal with the unavoidable paperwork.
Of course this is such a chore that the only remedy is a visit to the Nutmeg Bar for a couple of Carib beers and a wifi catch up…….
You are obviously having an amazing time I just fancy a swim and a Crib beer but that will have to wait till January. Have fun and make the most of your exiting new life. Hope to see you for a catch up when you drop by the south of England next. Happy sailing Anne
