Whilst South Africa ran away on holiday for two weeks, thanks to three public holidays in 10 days, some people were stuck with having to work through with just Good Friday off, thanks to a new gigantic project going live on 1st April. What an auspicious day! So for a bit of light relief, Steve, Daniel and I slipped out of Johannesburg for a bit of a break to unleash the Beast on the 4×4 track at de Wildt Game Park near Magaliesburg.
What an unexpected treat for us all! The obstacles were tough – some being missed by other drivers (like the near vertical rock face), but the Beast acquitted itself excellently. The Beast, you ask? I refer to Daniel’s Landrover Defender, of course, which has the agility of a mountain goat!
There is something very unexpected when you are doing an obstacle and then glance below and see five or six giraffe watching you! We were treated to amazing sightings of zebra, some with foals at foot, impala, and amazingly kudu only about three metres from the track you could see every detail, including a magnificent bull?
Hours of fun in magnificent scenery and in very close proximity to beautiful animals. Absolutely brilliant day out!
