Life & Travels Afloat in our Moody

Pets and other critturs!

Staying in the same place for a few days helps one to make friends. A boat’s hull makes a great hiding place from local predators as they cannot see you from above, nor do you show up easily from below. So we acquire pets.

Usually hiding around the propshaft, they are very camera-shy. This time even the dinghy gained a few. But the one that was really more affectionate was a bright green little chap that hid all around me, even heading up my swimming shorts to avoid a photo!

Even a dull day rewards taking a camera on a swim….

The other photos are of a flying gurnard, whose fins open out into the most gorgeous wings, a boxfish that looks just like ET, and a really aggressive small fish frantically charging us to keep us away from her nest. Although only about 300mm long, it seems really big when it comes within about 50mm of your mask!

Oh, and did I mention the little lizard that found home in our outboard cover…..
